colouring has the ability to relax the fear center of your brain. it induces the same state as meditating by reducing the thoughts of a restless mind and this generates mindfulness which allows your mind to slow down.

anytime i make art or am wrapped up deep in a creative project, my mind is silent and i haven’t found anything else that can do that. my purpose for these two books (and maybe more) is to put something out into the world where others can experience this same silence.

when i was putting together volume 02, i had all the illustrations placed in the book but i felt something was missing.

in the first one, the left side of each spread were blank dotted grid pages for the user to do whatever they wanted with mostly because i didn’t want each illustration to be double sided with another. this was a temporary solution until i could figure out a better idea.

i had been writing a lot more between january and april so one night while working on this, these raw short stories and poems to go with each illustration just spilled out.

i read them over once or twice, barely edited them, and considered it done. are the stories perfectly written? nope…and i didn’t want them to be.

when i combined the miscellaneous doodles with my love for custom lettering and a few written stories, i realized that maybe that’s the real trifecta.

vol 01 was based off some drawings (as seen here) that started in the summer of 2024.

on some pages of volume 01 i added tiny hand drawn messages to reflect some of my core values.

patience is a virtue… speed has no business being in the creative process.
