“transparent”

mixed media on upcycled canvas
19.5x27.5 in

about not just wearing your heart on your sleeve but on your entire body—showing the world who you really are, unapologetically and unafraid. i believe that this is the greatest courage of all and is how i aim to live.

in a world where secrecy and privacy feels rewarded and nobody talks about the deep stuff, being transparent is rare.

“paint my body red”

[a short story i wrote which inspired the painting]

love so big, be so real, so transparent, be so good at what you do that it’s impossible for them to not see. be so kind, so inclusive, only the fools banquet would turn their heads. don’t fall for the noise, the fake news, the curated images, and the flavour of the week; the ones who hide just enough to draw you in. the thing is, the opaque will leave as easily as they came and you’ll ask if you even knew them at all. but as for me, i’ve got nothing to hide and maybe the risk feels riskier but the reward that much richer so no, wearing my heart on my sleeve isn’t enough anymore; i want to wrap my heart and soul around all my flesh for the world to see.
