A colouring book made by the community for the community:

This year, I made this colouring book as a meditative art therapy activity. Read about the original project here.

Now I’m organizing another one but as a collaborative community project to be sold with 100% of the proceeds donated to 7th gen rising collective.

so…why?

a few things sparked this.

  1. i wanted to somehow make the artist to artist community a bit better (more collaborating, less competing).

  2. colouring is good for the mind [mental clarity, art therapy, etc] and is hugely underrated. no matter how old you are or if you’re an artist or not, colouring is for everyone.

  3. creative projects where the proceeds go towards something bigger than ourselves is always good.

what do i have to do?

submit one original black and white digital illustration that you think might be therapeutic and enjoyable for people to colour in. it can be highly detailed or simple—it doesn’t matter.

theme

a colouring book for a better world

the artwork can be something you’ve already made or something new as long as it’s 100% yours and portrays what a better world looks like to you.

who

open to anyone of any age and experience level, as long as you can draw something.

if it goes well and you missed this one, there might be another expanding SK and likely with another organization receiving the proceeds.

how

submissions will be compiled and put into a designed book and printed, distributed, and sold locally and maybe elsewhere.

any contributor may, of course, assist in spreading the word and may take a few copies to help sell. I will keep track of copies and collect the profits to donate the proceeds all together.

submission guidelines:

  • must be only black (100% black for print) and, of course, mostly outlines.

  • aspect ratio must fit 7x9 inches.

  • can be vector or raster in any suitable file format; if it’s a raster file ensure the file is 300dpi at 7x9 inches.

  • preferred file formats: pdf, eps, or jpg (please don’t send illustrator or photoshop files).

  • artwork must be 100% yours and original; no AI art please, we hate that here. :)

  • with the submission, include your name and pronouns, maximum two socials of choice and an optional short bio (1-2 sentences). please know that this will be included in the book.

  • write an optional short story, poem, or description (approx. 100-500 words) with the art and include it in the submission email.
