heart first [collection]
mixed media
while each visual style in this collection varies, each are fuelled by the fire inside——the passion and reason that we have deep down that inspires us to keep going, to keep taking the hard road even when it all seems hopeless.
the easy road may be more comfortable, but we know it’s not what the heart wants.

selected work from this collection:
“follow your *** heart” [coming soon]
“what i’m looking for” [coming soon]
“transparent”
acrylic and oil pastel on upcycled canvas
19.5x27.5 inches
about not just wearing your heart on your sleeve but on your entire body——showing the world who you really are, unapologetically and unafraid.
in a world where secrecy and privacy feel luxurious and in a world where most keep conversations and thinking surface level, the quality of being transparent is a rare gem and takes great courage.

Love so freely
Be so real and
so transparent
Be so good at what you do that it’s impossible to not see
Be so kind
So inclusive of everyone
So they’d look a fool to hate you
Don’t be part of the fools banquet
Don’t fall for the noise
The fake news and the curated image
The ones who hide by design just to suck you in
The opaque will leave as easily as they came
as soon as you get too close
As for me?
When I’ve got nothing left to hide the risk feels riskier but the reward richer
So wearing my heart on my sleeve isn’t enough anymore
I want to cover every inch of my exterior with my heart and soul for the world to see
So I’ll paint my body in it and risk it all
[a poem i wrote to go with this piece]
“we are alive… or are we?”
mixed media on upcycled canvas
16x24 inches
this piece symbolizes a deep love for life and humanity by… exploring thoughts and feelings of death from an uncomfortably rational perspective. if we’re alive why don’t we feel like it? we go through the motions every day, we save for a future we may not see, and we long for the adventures that remind us we are, in fact, alive. if we live to feel alive as much as we can, death is not a thing to fear but merely inevitable.
would you rather live for five more years of feeling the most alive or fifty more years of feeling as if you’re already dead? it’s always good to make every day count, somehow.
and no, it’s not about having no bad days [we’re always gonna have better or worse days]; it’s just about making all our days be something acceptable as our final day… because we never know which day might be that final day.

“fire inside”
mixed media on upcycled canvas in an upcycled wood frame
11x14 inches
a chaotic collage representing passion with a touch of feminism rage.

“eve & hera”
acrylic on upcycled canvas
25.5x21 inches
feminism inspired by the wondering why and how misogyny exists; why women are still often seen as less.
even in two opposing spiritual standpoints, there’s still one common ground: eve and hera are the mothers of all and without women, none of us would exist.

“uncool rambling heart thoughts” “heart first” (1); “maker” (2); “too much” (2); “make things” (1)
acrylic on media paper
8x10, 11x14 frame (2)
4x6, 8x10 frame (1)
a collection of words i wrote and drew by hand based on the idea of being ‘uncool.’ uncool is about embracing your most authentic self——even if it seems uncool to someone else/society. the rambling run-on style words is to emphasize how we tend to talk when we actually love and care about something.
