“SEE THE GOOD DAYS [VERSION TWO]”
ACRYLIC ON UPCYCLED CANVAS
38x26in
about the highs and lows of emotions; understanding and embracing all emotions leads to greater overall happiness. without the ability to sit with the darkness we cannot recognize joy when it comes. the darkness isn’t something to be ashamed of or to stay quiet about and acting like everything is fine is a path of self-destruction.
the darkness always finds a way out but if we learn to embrace and express it as easily as we seem to tell people we’re doing good if we’re not, we might find we actually feel good more often.

“GOLDEN HOUR ENLIGHTENMENT”
ACRYLIC, OIL PASTEL, BOOK PAGE ON UPCYCLED CANVAS, WOOD FRAME
13x17in [INCLUDES FRAME]
In 2022 I found myself doodling and then painting this kind of illustration a lot as a way to self-regulate and while I’ve always drawn and been creative [as a designer], I’d mark this as the start of my art practice.
Last year [2025] I felt compelled to make something like this again, but better than many of those early practice paintings. In early 2026 I looked at it again and added a bit of oil pastel as the final layer for added texture and depth as well as a small cut out of an F. Scott Fitzgerald quote that I very serendipitously found in one of my [secondhand] books I was flipping through one day.
I consider this work a symbol of the things we may find ourselves doing that seem meaningless at the time until we look back years later and are enlightened to see the reason for it all.
