What started as a late night messing around with type in Adobe Illustrator turned into a hand drawn lettering (copied from the digital file but but not traced) project with a ruler, pencil, and paint pen on 90 lb. media paper.

This was a personal project that I made for myself to hang above my record player/on my music shelf. They are numbered as the drawings were part of a challenge I did near the end of 2024, which was how this project came to be.

Breaktown was an unreleased Hanson song that was leaked in ~early 2003 and has always been a favourite. This original version was finally only officially released on Underneath: Complete in the fall of 2024.

The Music Lives is a quote they often said around the time of the process of making the original Underneath album (2004). The process eventually led the band to start their own indie label.

To me, The Music Lives symbolizes being passionate about your creative work that when people tell you “no,” you find a way to do it anyway.

The digital design included a third type design (Are You Listening?) which comes from a song on that album and is (I think) where the inspiration for the album art originated.
